The photo below was furnished as a courtesy to us by WXYZ TV. The baby boy in the picture was left alone at one of the rear entrances to our church building on Saturday, June 3, 2006, sometime during the evening, while our Saturday Evening Bible Study was in progress.
We can imagine that the baby was placed there in desperation by a loving parent. We can also imagine that the baby has several relatives who perhaps did not know how to help the parents in their time of desperation.
Our Holy Scriptures tell us of another baby boy who was left alone in desperate circumstances. The baby was rescued and later given a name which, translated from the Hebrew language, means "rescued!". That ancient name was "Moshe". In modern times we call him... "Moses".
We are praying for this baby. We are praying for the parents of this baby. We know that God has given us an opportunity and ability to show kindness and mercy during this time of trouble and to be helpful in some way. If the parents are as desperate as they seem to be, if they are weary and heavily burdened, we invite them to come and fellowship with us this Sunday. There is no need to identify yourselves. We need not know who you are. Just come, call out to God in prayer with us and be embraced and strengthened by Christ through a loving congregation.
